Little Shop of Horrors Photos
6:49PM, August 22nd, 2006

I have posted a selection of some forty-odd photos from Little Shop of Horrors onto my Flickr stream today. Check out the Little Shop of Horrors photo set to view them all. It’s so wonderful to have incredible photos like these as a memory of the show. There are shows I’ve done which I have absolutely no photos of at all (like the first time I did Little Shop. Anyone out there have any?), so the professional photo set for this show and Charlie Brown are highly treasured.

Everyday Allergies
10:27PM, August 21st, 2006
This is no doubt only the start of yet another endless night of coughing and sleeplessness. For probably about a week now I’ve been unable to sleep despite my strong desire to, due to this nasty cough. It wasn’t even that bad during the day today, but I can’t go on for much longer like this. Every night I just go stir crazy lying in my bed endlessly hacking up nothing but air until my throat feels like someone has tried to claw their way out of it. It seems the cough syrup is doing precious little. Everyone is telling me to get lots of sleep, but I just can’t manage it, however early I go to bed.
I’ve cracked out the pseudoephedrine now, so that might just help my throat in some way. Although I choked on the tablet, I have to keep taking them; they expire this month and you know how I hate to waste. The strangest thing though - in both this room (where I sleep) and my study area, my cough is always aggrivated, but after being downstairs for a few minutes, I feel substantially better.
Could it just be that I’m sick of my life?

Someday I’ll Fly Away…
9:23PM, August 20th, 2006
Firstly, I want to address a very serious issue that is well overdue. It’s not clever, and everyone knows its just silly. It’s not helping anyone or anything, so let’s all give it a break, shall we?
I am, of course, referring to the hyper-sound effecting of computers on television shows.
I just watched the debut episode of Criminal Minds (the one with Mandy Patinkin), and it was completely out of hand. Firstly, when viewing video on a computer, it does not need to be rewound. Even if the FBI was using such footage that required the video footage to be virtually rewound, it would certainly not actually make the sound of a video tape rewinding. On that note, there is no video editing software I know of which can be entirely manipulated using the enter key only. This includes the highly selective zoom that pinpointed a specific object using only said key. If this weren’t a spectacular display of user interface genius, the software then apparently identified the (surprisingly high definition) object in the vision as a door knob, and singled out the sound of said door knob rattling from amongst the audio of a man screaming. That’s quite a feat.
Anyway, my illness is degrading my attention span so I’m over that now. I’m still sick and it has prevented me from performing at Amy’s concert and attending Chae’s birthday luncheon, and I am very sorry I missed both. Instead I just laid down on the floor, rolling over moaning about the bird flu invading my body. Maybe it wasn’t that bad, but I haven’t had a good night’s sleep, or woken up without a chain saw in my mouth for about a week.
There was one event which I absolutely couldn’t miss, and that was Carla’s 21st birthday, particularly as Becky was down from Queensland for the gig. It was really nice, but kind of a downer for me because every time I opened my mouth to speak I ended up hocking a lung onto someone’s shoulder or blowing snot bubbles onto their face. For more graphic images like that, check out the Flickr stream for those, as usual.

Another busy week this week, but it’s starting to slow down a little which is nice. Uni assessment after uni assessment, but I’ve got to kind of expect that as my last session of music progresses frighteningly quickly.
One thing I did manage to squeeze in was a viewing of From Russia With Love. I had forgotten how great the early Bond films are - superb 1960s espionage films! I’m looking forward to Goldfinger next!

Fruitcast #21 - Post-Show Gravel
10:50PM, August 18th, 2006
I have no voice, but that doesn’t stop me! Encouraged by an email asking when I was getting back to the podcasts, I spend the last few scraps of my voice (which is pretty much gone now) sharing my thoughts post-Little Shop of Horrors.
I also discuss a new possible podcast idea. Be sure to share your thoughts, because as this episode proves, even one email can motivate me to churn out another of these.

15 minutes, 5.2MBs
I also want to point out that I can in fact provide good sound when I’m not too busy worrying about Skype!
Don’t forget to get in contact with me by email or leaving a comment below with your thoughts. Also, click here to check out my Frappr map and even pin point your position.

Brazen with a capital B and ends with N!

I’m more than a little spaced out on medication tonight. I have a dry, ticklish cough and I thought some cold and flu tablets might take care of that. It didn’t work (but has put my mind on a half hour delay), so I just took some cough syrup which I’m hoping will let me get some sleep before my 6.30 wake up tomorrow morning. In fact, I was talking to Tim on the MSN earlier this evening before he left to go see a movie at the cinemas. He just came back and is telling me about the film, and I seem to have no recollection at all of the time when he was at the movies. Was I doing uni work? Or was that last night? If it was tonight, I had better re-read it tomorrow.
I am just doped up to share with you all possibly one of the most offensively brazen impulse purchases of my life thus far (this month). Behold, in it’s outrageously packaged splendor:

It was so worth it though. I am going to work my way through. I started at Dr. No today and I couldn’t believe my eyes. The film looked beautiful. Each pebble could be seen, textures of surfaces became clear, colours were brighter and beads of sweat caught the light. If you’re interested in that sort of thing, be sure to check out my frame comparison of the two dvd editions.
Did anyone else buy it?
And is that really the time? What feels like a minute to me is actually twenty.

I forgot to ask you before… which cough syrup are you using? Cos the best for a dry unproductive cough are Senega & Ammonia or Duro-toss (the basic one)… they both taste gross but are the most effective.
The pseudoephedrine will help if your cough is allergy based or if its caused by post-nasal drip.
Ooh, ooh.. and there are lozenges that have cough suppressent in them too - but also Cepacol lozenges and a few others have anti-inflammatory and anaesthetic in them… so they are definitely worth it to numb your throat when it gets bad.
Let me know… I can hook you up. :)

Thanks for your advice Min! My mother went on an assignment and came back with the Senega and Ammonia one you suggested. Looking forward to gulping it down.
