“Movie Madness”
9:43AM, January 25th, 2006
I love how some film critics can write so little, yet inform their readers about all that is evil in the world. This on top of some stunningly informative film reviews. Take this little number, for instance. It’s a real tragedy this has been restricted to publication in ‘letters’ section of the newspaper.
“What’s going on? Is the devil trying to take control (or has he done so already)?
Are we gullible or just in search of something “different”?
Three “gay” movies were nominated for and won, various awards at the Golden Globe ceremony and notice the spate of so-called “supernatural” movies on the horizon.
Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe has out-audienced the lot, so there is more than hope for us after all.
Nanny McPhee isn’t all that bad either, as pure fantasy.”
Just brilliant.
BARBARA WITTE OF BARRACK HEIGHTS. YOU. ME. CARPARK. LET’S GO.
I’m absolutely willing to have a conversation with someone who has different opinions to mine, but I do ask that they actually construct arguments that have weight. Or hey, any substance at all.

About
I’m a twenty year old uni student from Australia, and I’m studying for a both a Bachelor of Creative Arts and a Bachelor of Commerce. Tricky stuff. Rather than combining them, it’s more a plan a, plan b kind of situation, although ideally I’d use a little of both.
In between my studies I work in community theatre as an actor, musical director and rehearsal pianist. I’m typically involved with about 4 shows a year, sometimes more, rarely less. Through this website I produce a semi-regular podcast, called the Fruitcast, and am currently investigating producing videocasts. These are enhancements for my blog, which I have been actively writing in for five years.
Creatively, I’ve also composed the music for a short-musical, ‘Maths: The Musical’. In addition to this, I wrote and produced a radio play parody, ‘Boston Spade: Private Eye’. Hopefully I’ll have the opportunity to do more work like this in the future.

A Few Minor Changes
3:06PM, January 22nd, 2006
I’ve reworked a few things here on the site. Perhaps the most noticable differences are the drop-shadows around the red border, and the new buttons on the side. There are lots of other minor changes that you may or may not notice, and I’ll work on more as I think of it. You should notice it is significantly less buggy, particularly with the footer bar.

Food for Thought
7:10PM, January 20th, 2006
Even after eating two meals today, by the time dinner came around I was in a state of frenzy, and the stuff that eats the lining of my stomach was being eaten by something else entirely.
As soon as I could scoop out the meal (Musman Curry and some Sweet Chilli Chicken dish), I was into it like I hadn’t ever seen food before. I was cramming my mouth so full that I couldn’t actually chew and swallow it down fast enough to make room for the next forkful. By the end of it (plus a couple of vegetarian spring rolls), I was out for the count, and my stomach has gone from concave to convex (I think?).
I hopped on the scales, and for the first time in a long while I broke 50kgs (50.1kgs to be exact), and it actually reported my body fat content as “healthy”, 8%, when I’m usually around 6.something% and reported as “underfat” (which is actually a troubled term). I know you aren’t supposed to weigh yourself directly after eating, but it’s nice to know I can hold this much food.

To make you feel better, here are some comments found on ‘The Forum’ of The Australian:
From Ian Tanner, Canada.
THE reason Americans aren’t watching films like Brokeback Mountain (”No Christian hoorays for Hollywood”, 19/1) is because the only films being mass produced for the bulk of them are the insultingly unintelligent and, may I say, disposable crap that always sell well in America.
Gone are the days when Annie Hall could win best picture. Just because your average moviegoer doesn’t understand an artful, original film doesn’t mean there is some left-wing agenda in play. I’m so glad I’m a Canadian.
From Matthew Keeler, Nevada, US.
THIS movie is about real issues that occur for a part of America that no one sees and no one obviously cares about.
I am sick and tired of so-called Christian Right moralists preaching their agenda with a wholly inhuman and immoral intolerance.
Let them stay in their insular world of Aslan.
And finally, from Alexandra Brown, US.
IF Hollywood isn’t out to “homosexualise” the world, then I don’t know who is. I am so sick of it. I can’t stand it. I don’t even bother going to the movies with my husband any more. It is mostly trash with an agenda.
God Bless them all, each and every one.

“You. Me. Carpark. Let’s Go.”
Those exact words appear in the Christina Aguilera Song ‘Dirrrty’. I hope your sentiment is not in the same spirit.
Comment by Russell Allen — January 26, 2006 @ 3:37 pm
Becky - Thank you for those. You are my own personal Oprah. Just without trying to sell me books that are fiction disguised as memoir.
Russell - True. Although I wonder what Barbara Witte would look like in Ms. Aguilera’s outfits? (ie. two toothpaste tube caps and a piece of string).

Hollywood died a long time ago and the corpse has just been left lying in the street to rot. The originality that was around many years ago has disappeared and all we are left with mostly are cheap and nasty films that are designed soley to make a few dollars and keep shareholders happy.
With a few exceptions, the cinema is a wasteland. I can’t justify paying the admission price anymore and the last few times I have, I was sorry I did.
As for the Americans and their weird sense of morality - homosexuality in movies is bad, watching an illegal war on TV is good. Does that make any sense?
As for Barbara Witte of Barrack Heights find someone to teach you correct sentence structure.
Comment by Kevin — January 27, 2006 @ 9:54 am
Kevin - While Barbara Witte’s sentence structure is the least troubling of her deficiencies, it might do her some good to be in an environment with other people for a while.
