Mac Mac Mac Mac Mac Mac Mac Mac

Now that I’ve stuffed up the rather tame photo gallery script and I can’t get it happening again (oh, you haven’t noticed? What a suprise!), I’d like to update to a system that…
a) Creates decent looking thumbnails
b) Doesn’t have insane naming rituals
c) Is EASY and works
Ultimately, I’d like to still have them all hosted on my server. I looked into creating MovableType categories for my pictures, which seems the perfect idea. I could generate an RSS feed for those who want to subscribe to my pictures, I would have complete control over the output (through MT’s templates) and I have all the stuff as it is. It would, however, require me to create every blog entry complete with tedious HTML tags, which I’m not prepared to do. Unless…
There is a solution, but of course it’s Mac only. It involves iPhoto (which, by the way, looks perfect for me) and a plugin called Photon which exports XML data straight into MT to generate the entries for you. I require my photos to be categorised into Albums, which are based on the event, and as such I’m still using a 1997 piece of extinct software called Epson Film Factory. I don’t care about time and date, I can get that from the file specs.
Can anyone help me out? Any ideas? I’m still keen on the MT idea if anyone can suggest a way of automatically generating the entry data.

The last straw

What is it going to take to make technology actually WORK.
Greg picked me up a USB 2 card from the computer fair and after three hundred changes to my system, its SORT OF working. It won’t mount my MP3 player (the reason I got it) the first time, nor will it properly dismount it. What a pain.
I’m now accepting donations of Macintosh hardware. I’m just about to give up on my PC.

Podcast #4 - We’re off to see Bob Downe
11:27PM, March 12th, 2005
This episode features recordings from our trip to Sydney to see Bob Downe last night (mind you, so much of it was unusable as it was just Greg belittling me), as well as my interview(s) from Loft Radio. I also dug out a bit of my interview with Becky from last week that I forgot to play, this clip is particularly for Zoe.

8.55MB, 25 mins
Thanks to Jake for his skype message, as well as eMack for his delightful shout out. I really hope to have an interview with eMack for an upcoming show. What’s your email?
Thanks also to Kevin for his audio message, but I completely forgot about it until now for this week’s podcast. It will be in next week’s for sure. I’m thinking I’ll do another Just-Me-Talking style show too, in case you are sick of hearing nothing spoken by people you don’t know.
Don’t forget, please send audio messages (mp3 - remember, 48kbps mono is what I encode, so no higher quality neccessary) to my email.

Coming Soon…
8:22PM, March 10th, 2005
I plan to put together another podcast this weekend.
In contrary to what I thought would be the case, there seems to be an abundance of material to get through again this week. I like to try to keep the podcasts quite short (30 minutes or less), so I may have to hold some over to next weeks show. Oh, its so Ray Martin.
Please email me to let me know if you’re enjoying the shows, what you like, what you don’t like. Even if you think your opinion doesn’t count, it does to me!
Oh! I hate to mooch (thats not true), but does anyone happen to have an old USB 2 PCI card lying around they feel like mailing to me? USB 1 is trying my patience with this MP3 player.

Money Money Money

Having an income is really a marvelous thing.
Sure, my income at the moment is very slight, but the fact that my debits will eventually be replenished by slowly earned credts, that feels great. Particularly after I just spent too much on my MP3 player.
I imagine it would be less fun when you’ve got to spend it all on rent, food, water, telephone, internet, petrol etc…

Yeah you’ve changed into the same frame of mind as me. I was looking into getting a good Apple laptop to use, as it had great quality, great programs, and things that I needed. Ive seen Kit’s stuff and its awesome, but, I need the money to travel. Shame really.

It’s such a sweet thing to watch when dedicated PC users finally come to the realisation that Macs are a far superior machine.
Don’t think about it. Just do it. Make the switch and you’ll never look back.

Thanks, eMack… So when do you think is the right time to ask Phillip to buy me one?
