Listen to my band play
10:42PM, November 11th, 2004
I just spent a suprisingly long time tuning and playing the rubberband that holds the bow in my violin case. Close your eyes and you would swear it were someone playing an electric guitar with overdrive.
Juxtapose that with “The Technique of Orchestration” laying open on my desk with music spread all over it.
I think my music course is getting to me - and actually in a positive way.

The Nightmare before my 19th Birthday
4:42PM, November 11th, 2004
Things are starting to busy up again.
I’ve been working on fixing lyrics for the pantomime as the information nights are next week and the auditions next weekend. I’m excited to get it underway, but that means I’ll have to start organising arrangements (”orchestrations” is the correct term, but it hardly seems orchestrating when there are 5 instruments and only two need new parts) and of course, finding people to play them. Actually, I should probably do that in the other order to make sure I’m going to have a clarinetist.
Adam gave me a good tip when auditionees bring their own music for auditions and you have to sight read it, telling me to ask the people out the front who organise the auditions to bring in the music prior to the actual audition to give me some time to skim it. Being a pantomime I hope we get lots of Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars, and not so much Sondheim.
Next wednesday I’m heading up to Sydney to stay at Ben’s house and then accompany for his audition the following morning. It’ll be nerve wracking, but I think I’ll deal okay. I’ll be rushing back home to make it in time for the information session for the panto that evening.
I am also getting organised to, believe it or not, head to Melbourne to stay with the boys at MelbourneLoft. I’m quite nervous about it - I hate flying and I’ve never visited a strange city on my own. Greg tells me Melbourne is very exciting (as long as you stay out of the alleyways) and Becky has been sprouting the virtues of travelling alone. Becky has a lot of travel under her belt, having been to US and back a few times, most recently by herself (what am I scared of?!) and I can’t wait to see her when she flys into this little town two days after I arrive back from Melbourne! So much is happening, I’m so excited!
Oh, and it’s my birthday tommorow. 19. Fancy that.

Nothing to see here…
11:36PM, November 8th, 2004
Okay, so I’ve been a little thrifty with my blogging. I promise you, however, that nothing of any interest has been happening other than my computer playing up.
Oh. and John Laws is an arrogant fool. Movie at eleven.

Awake at night
9:28PM, November 4th, 2004
It started out with food poisoning (or something) on Monday night which kept make me ill, and now it seems i’ve developed some strange flu thing. Usually the flu for me is straight forward and belongs in the head, but this time it has made my throat right through to my ears feel like its swollen and being pushed on.
As I have a lot of trouble sleeping during the nights, I tend to sleep all morning, which is really throwing me out of whack.
Bette Midler is on Letterman tonight. I guess I’ll still be up to see it.
