I’ve been so good!
10:02PM, March 31st, 2004
With the Boy Friend taking up all my real weekend time, i’ve been relying on my psuedo-weekend, tuesday and wednesday when I have no uni (officially or otherwise) to get some work done.
Sure, yesterday was a bit of a write off, but can you blame me? It has been the first day I have actually stopped doing something for over 2 weeks with the move and all. I ended up fixing the masters for the ACT cast CDs and burnt 15 copies, which is quite an achievement with a 4x speed burner. A lot of sitting and surfing the net in between CDs, let me assure you. That was until it all went to hell and killed one of the CDs.
But today was the real killer. I awoke nice and early (for a psuedo-weekend) at 8am and pottered around. I eventually guilted myself into typing up some Accounting lecture notes. Halfway through the chapter I needed a change and ended up writing half of my major Acoustics essay due next thursday. Its all hodge bodge and needs expanding and restructuring, but its basically all there. I have my psudeo-weekend to fix it up next week. Finally I just did over an hours worth of Accounting for the tutes with The Mikado as my soundtrack. It’s been so long since I pulled that out. The CD kind of has a black cross next to it in my mind because it has too much reverb, but its the only recording I have at the moment.
See what I can achieve when I’m not moving house!

A Childhood find
7:52PM, March 28th, 2004
My brother was rifling through a box of his stuff that he’d long since packed and he came across the old Viewmaster, a very favourite toy of our childhood.
Something really draws me into this little plastic wonder. We found quite a few reels, including some Alf, Inspector Gadget and my personal favourite, the 60s TV Show Batman, complete with cheesy onomatopaeic words. I love the 3D images (remember my previous exploits? - I can’t find the link!), and they make me duck for cover as Catwoman takes a swipe, and reach for the notepad to take down design tips from the Batcave for my future abode.

As I grimace and move around trying to find the best light, the joy these reels bring me, at least for now, surpasse the novelty of any kind of paid television, even if I do go cross-eyed and get a major headache.

It’s my life, and i’ll get busy if I want…
7:15PM, March 25th, 2004
You nasty people keeping me from my uni work.
What a week, what a week indeed.
In the last 7 days I have been offered a paying rehearsal pianist job, then refused it, been offered a non-paying job for “Nunsense II”, which I took. I’ve experienced opening weekend of ‘The Boyfriend’, went to Janne-Maree’s birthday party, and even moved house. I’ve attended Uni as well as been asked to be a ‘reader’ for the Grease auditions.
Hold me.

From the “new” place
4:41PM, March 23rd, 2004
For the record, today brought back all those horrible reasons why moving is such a horrible, horrible thing.
I am absolutely exhausted, but just about everything has been moved now. I’ve just set up a the computer, and I still have boxes and stuff everywhere. I’m not unpacking because my parents tell me its only a matter of weeks before we move, as my brother and his gang are hopefully going to rent this place.
If I owned this place, I think I could do some really awesome things with it, because it has this fantastic big room that is seperated from the rest of the house by a brick wall, and it even has a bar in it.
I know I say this everytime I move, but its just a wonderful line from a wonderful film:
“Rip up the carpets, knock down a few walls… This place might just be livable!”
Now to sort out the 90 emails I have awaiting…

What’s the buzz?
10:26AM, March 20th, 2004
Hi Kids,
What a week it has been (and still is)! As usual it seems everything is going on at once, and I thought i’d take these few hours between everything to shove some food down my throat and update the site.
Firstly, I want to mention the Chillis Dinner I went to with the extended Greg family (check out the gallery). Before hand I went out deliverying drugs (legal ones) with Min on her chemist delivery run out to the back of absolutely nowhere. We had a little ‘bladder emergency’ towards the end of the trip though which resulted in some serious control meditation on my own behalf before jumping out of the car and running into a recently used KFC toilet.
Perhaps the highlight of the dinner was finally meeting young Phillip of the infamous MelbourneLoft website. Quite possibly the only website ever banned from the Australian TV show, “Today”. Tracy didn’t think it was appropriate, or something. I’m still waiting for the return flight he owes me to visit him in the Loft, and the opportunity to meet Jake and Dart. Jeez, everyone has a website nowadays.
Reprising my last entry, I want to state that the move is only 3 days away and I still have so much to pack, although i’ve done quite a bit already. It’s a bit hard when I have the performances on for The Boyfriend also, but i’m managing.
I also not only had my glasses fixed with new rubbery feet, but I had my eyes retested and I am getting a new pair of glasses! I’m so excited, although i’m a little nervous that I picked the pair that most make me look like Dame Edna because they were fixing my glasses as I was picking out the new frames. My dad tried to rush the process along, but he must realise it is a huge decision, as they are the glasses I’ll be wearing for at least a few years. It ended up coming down to two different frames, one pair that had a thick metallic blue hexagonal frame, which was quite cool, but I went with the ones that had an unusual shape and the lenses will be tinted. How they manage it so that the lense isn’t tinted when looking out is just another Miracle of Judiaism (ref: Falsettoland).
Getting my eyes tested was fun, I always love it because its just a big game. They flash things in front of you and ask you questions. I actually got a bit of the giggles halfway through because I was just so humoured by the situation. She said that I may be a bit freaked out by my new glasses because although my prescription is fairly weak, she has doubled it since my last pair of glasses.
I moved on to Sanity after that where Emma now works (I used to catch the morning bus to school with Emma, AJ and Christianne every morning for a few years). After much deliberation, I picked out a present for Janne-Maree’s birthday and a new jazz CD for myself (one of the songs sounds oddly similar to a song from the Australian musical “The Stripper”). Anyway, after I paid the girl said “Bye Tyson”, and I thought “Had she read that off the card? Is that really rude?”. It haunted me until yesterday afternoon on the bus I realised why she looked a little familiar: she is Ashley’s sister! I promptly sent off an apology SMS.
The last little piece of news I will divulge at this time is that I was asked to be the rehearsal pianist for a local choral group. I tried to stress that I am really not good enough to do something like that, but I eventually agreed to do it (typical me). I have had to change my mind now though, because there is no way I have time with moving house, uni, The Boyfriend and two other shows I am involved in to be learning new material for rehearsals. It was a paid job, but I am just in no position to take it. I’d rather be less stressed for no money anyway. I desperately hope an alternative player is organised prior to Monday’s rehearsal. I would be an embarrassment to pianists all over the world if I tried to play.
Speaking of money, my scholarship cheque rolled in yesterday! Shame it all disappears immediately with uni fees.
Oh, one more thing! Earlier this week I added the Maths: The Musical Script and Score to the merchandise store. To buy a copy, click on the button to the right and go to the Merchandise section and buy it all up!

Comment by AJ — March 27, 2004 @ 12:14 am
Information nights are Tuesday April 6 7:30 and Thursday April 8 7:30pm. Auditions from Tuesday 27th April to Saturday 1 May.
The audition schedule is pretty big because they expect lots of people to come out of the woodwork to audition for it.

I hate uni. I miss doing shows - but I don’t think I’ll go out to arcos and audition… bugger being on stage!! I am so seeing nunsense two though! :) Oh - did I tell you I have a director/assistant director gig later this year! Well I do … pending nothing changing. There is this new theatre being built and I’ll probably be directing a straight play out there. Go me! Tyson… post the dates for these shows would ya! That way I can go see them and be cultured! :)

Non-paying, my a**!

I didn’t know ‘Atlantis’ was going to be paid until we pryed the cheques out of ‘The Lord High Executioners’ bony grasp. I still haven’t cashed my cheque! I’ll wait till I have a big build up and then cash them all at once and make them go bankrupt.
