Sunday Shakedown
7:47PM, February 29th, 2004
Like Elaine, my sunday routine, at least the second half of the day is all about getting rested and slowly fixing up loose ends from the previous week, and preparing for the week ahead.
Rehearsal occured from 9.30 to around 2.30, when I came home and worked out stationary things I still need for uni. While listening to the particularly naughty boys over at MelbourneLoft for Loft Radio, I cleaned up the CDs that i’d used this past week. It was particular scattered because last weekend was very busy and I didn’t get my usual clean up chance.
Something else that was rather pressing was the deconstruction of the Christmas tree, which was had become conciously unnoticable as to survive the two months after christmas.
I also went through and did a major cull of my email inbox, which used to hold 1000+ emails, and now it holds 158. That’s a pretty significant cut! I’m now organising my notes from last week at uni into folders, which will hopefully not fill too quickly.
And a little anecdote / piece of advice from today : When attempting to sell ‘blueberry doughnuts’, if it looks that much like a turd, maybe you should reconsider… I wish I had had my camera with me.

Heather, a mini-opera, Part Two.
11:26PM, February 28th, 2004
I couldn’t help myself, I had to get at it with photoshop. Check out the latest edition in the Heather news by clicking on the little picture to the side.
Rehearsal today, rehearsal tommorow. Usual deal. My real weekend is Wednesday, but I guess even that will be taken up uni work.

Vegemite Splendor
10:57PM, February 27th, 2004
My browser has been going a bit crazy. When I tried to load up AJ’s site, it took me to a CPanel page, and when I tried to load up Michael Starobin’s site, I was greeted with a Lion King bulletin board. Add to that I burnt my vegemite toast. Woe is me.
I headed off with Carmen and Carla to see “American Splendor“, which was a very interesting mix of documentary, film and comic strip. While I enjoyed it all around, and there were lots of effective moments, I was left with nothing at the end. In fact, I can’t even really remember the conclusion of the film. Perhaps thats the ultimate ‘punchline’ to the work of Harvey Pekar.
Also good to see the uni movies are looking out for those in the community who embrace the opportunity to see a more ‘rare’ and non-mainstream film. And at $3.50, the genuine 1976 prices match my 1976 ideals.

Heather is excited!
12:55PM, February 27th, 2004
Most of you will known Miss Heather Mitchell, the person drag queens were imaged upon (in spirit only). She was the co-lyricist and co-librettist with Becky on our Maths: The Musical.
Anyone who is familiar with this creature will know that she is a ball of energy and unrelentless enthusiasm for pretty much anything she does. That said, the fact that Heather is excited is not really new news to anyone. However, the university took it upon themselves to interview her and subsequently give her the “Student Story” place on the university website, with the headline, “Heather Excited About Year Ahead”.
Adam K. emailed me a screenshot of the page and I thought it was a mock-up, a clever bit of photoshop work, but a quick visit to the site proved what I had hoped (and prayed) was false.
If you want to read about just how excited Heather happens to be, or even why, either click on the image above to see the screenshot, or visit the individual page.
Hopefully next time she’ll remember to plug Maths: The Musical. We have merchandise to sell, remember??

Sore Arm and Wallet
3:01PM, February 26th, 2004
My arms (my right in particular) is really tired from having dragged around $200 of textbooks today. 3, in fact, plus a computer program, a practice set booklet and a financial report of QANTAS. All for accounting, but they apparently will last all year.
One more day of uni and i’ll hit the busiest time of the week for me, the weekend. If uni were to stay like this (no tutes, just lectures), it’d be a crime that I am getting concession tickets on the bus, but next week things with busy up with tutes and the rest. Again, mostly for Accounting.
I am thinking I will hit the unimovies tommorow night, hoping to catch “American Splendor”. It was described to me as a cross between a movie, a comic book and a dream, so i’m up for that. Having not even sold 50 tickets yet, I don’t think i’ll have any troubles securing some of the other 750. Computerised ticketing is a good thing.
I noticed they are showing the Lord of the Rings movies coming up, which I’ve never seen. Maybe I should take this last opportunity to catch the movies on a big screen with great sound. Hrm.
