I don’t know what it is, but this christmas was just no where near as exciting as christmas’ in the past. I didn’t even get into the spirit until last night when watching “Mrs. Santa Clause” on TV. Normally its the carols choir that get me into the spirit, but not this year. However, I did have fun singing bass harmony to the carols TV broadcast.

All in all, i’m a bit dissappointed. I wish I wasn’t though.

I need to do something about it too - I don’t want my christmas experience to continue on its downwards trend. What can I do to excite it up again?

My star signs for this week stated that I should work on a creative project that i’ve been wanting to for a long time (my musical), and that even my humble attempts will lead tp suprising results. Dang - I was feeling guilty enough about not working on it.

The good news just seems to be on steady supply at the moment.

I received a phone call today from the creative arts faculty at the university and they have offered me a scholarship for the music course! $4000 a year for three years is certainly going to help so much for textbooks and stuff. I really hate relying on my parents so heavily for money, so this will help out.

I’ve started adjusting my music listening to incorporate christmas music. I don’t have much, so i’ll have to hold back and not go nuts. Now that the carols are over I can not have to worry about keeping my harmonies in my head. At the moment i’m listening to the soundtrack to The Grinch, which have a few nice tracks after you skip the first track. Next i’ll pull out the Ren and Stimpy “Crock-O-Christmas” CD I think. I’ve got some christmas cabaret CDs too I think will get a nice playing.

So hot today - went for a swim. A lazy pre-christmas monday.

I’m right in the middle of my busy time right now (and I think my drooping eyelids show that).

Thursday Laurie-Mae came over and we watched Ed Wood after getting our results. Friday I got the UAI and spent the day fielding phone calls and the such, followed by a rehearsal for the Carols spectacular from 6 onwards (early call!). It was so hot yesterday, and then turned freezing cold at night, so there was me in the choir on stage in shorts and a tshirt freezing my tuchas off. Crawled into bed and woke up this morning to shove some toast down my throat before going to rehearsal again today. Back from that now (1 hour delay thanks to the “stars”), I have a few hours before back off for the show tonight. Should be fun.

Then once I crawl into bed again tonight, another early morning tommorow to visit my grandmother and that side of the family (many hours of driving involved - must charge discman).

Maybe I won’t be needing the big tub of Haagendaas that I promised myself if I wasn’t entirely pleased with my result.

After hours of half-hearted sleep, I woke to find out that my UAI is 96.35.

I am simply amazingly happy. Finally validation for years of hard work.

Even my mum has taken notice, and was very pleased. I’m even in the running for a scholarship now. Happy days!
