One week of exams over.

6:38PM, March 21st, 2003

One week of exams over. Four exams down, three to go. Two on monday (economics and drama) and another extension english task on wednesday.

In the few moments I had today I tried to clean up my room a little and went through a pile of papers I had on my desk, in order to establish some sort of system for my paper trays. Since I bought the paper trays i’ve just been stuffing paper in either of the two trays, which of course defeats the whole purpose. Anyway, I found two images that I will post later (don’t have time now - going out). One is from a HSC english exam from a few years ago and it was a text about ‘agism’ and ‘agist attitudes’ society. Probably not spelt right, but eh. The article made reference to ’super gran’, and had an accompanying photo which was quite funny. It was an old woman with this hannibal lector grin on her face, wide eyed, holding a golfstick. It was supposed to supplement the articles themes, but I think they strongly contradicted them. It was like she had mistaken her grandkids for cheese and tomato saos, and accidently picked up a golfstick rather than a fork or other implement.

The other image was from a book that someone else had at school called ‘101 uses for a cat’. Of course, dead cats. My favourite one (so I photocopied it) was, lets just say, as a cat helping someone write a letter. You’ll understand when I get around to fixing the picture posting thing and put them up.

Anyway, right now I have to go and hose myself off. Bye

I walked in the door

10:46AM, March 20th, 2003

I walked in the door not long ago, after getting home from school at 10:25. Yes, AM. That’s ain’t too bad. Although, it seems kinda useless all that waking up early for a one hour exam only to return home immediately after it. I need the time to study for Business Studies, however. Ah, the HSC. Satan’s gift to teenagers. And this is only half yearlies and I have a thousand and one things to be doing. Fun fun. Bye

Mmm, gassy goodness. It seems

2:52PM, March 18th, 2003

Mmm, gassy goodness. It seems that whilst building our next door neighbours house, the electricians hit an incorrectly placed gas pipe, so I don’t think we have gas right now, even though I can smell it quite convincingly. So until we get the gas back on, we have no heating (not that we need it), no cooking, and no hot water. Yay!

Anyway, I know its been a while since my last blog, but hey, thats the nature of exams. So far I have had my english and maths exams, so I hope I went okay in both of those. I have a break tommorow before extension english on thursday and business on friday. Yesterday was particularly busy because I had the english exam in the morning, then a 4 hour break until the first rehearsal for ‘SotA’ from 3 to 6. It was a long day, considering I spent the majority of the four hours studying for maths. But the rehearsal went well - it looks like its going to be a really great show.

Well, before I go, I have two special happy birthday’s today: Min and Heather! So yay, happy birthday! Okay, off I go to watch more of the live, televised iraq war “debate” (which is interesting considering our PM has already dedicated our troops to America’s supremacy), so yeh. As of writing this we have… 45 hours to war. Bye

I am bored poopless. Studying

8:40PM, March 15th, 2003

I am bored poopless. Studying is just so completely void of any excitement. I should have gotten more work done today but, dang, oh well. I would have liked to clean this room up a little, but I think I need a warehouse to store all my notes, papers, textbooks and whatever. My first exam is Advanced English on Monday. 3 papers in 2 hours. Ugh. Hopefully they’ll give us an interesting composition task to do in the middle to break up the two essays. Then i’ll be studying for maths in the afternoon until I have the first read through of “Summer of the Aliens” from 3 to 6. Then home and my maths exam is on tuesday. This is going to be an awful week and a half with too many exams that are equally as painful as each other. Sometimes I wish I weren’t deemed “intellectual”, because then I wouldn’t have these problems, and i’d be out in the workforce making money. But hey… Bye

Lets see.. a few things

4:32PM, March 13th, 2003

Lets see.. a few things I should probably mention…

Today I was cast as Lewis in an australian play called “Summer of the Aliens”, which will be performed in June I believe. I only found out which play it was yesterday afternoon, so I haven’t read it yet, but flicking through it looks to be a very heavy role. Thankfully with lots of shorter lines than longer lines. It is with the same director as Little Shop Of Horrors, and the only reason I can do it is because it is associated with school, and we are all school students, it will revolve around our studies, rather than the clashing as external theatre commitments. Because i’ve been busy enough I suppose the first thing to be forfeited is the writing of my musical - it seems that will have to wait for now. Not that I was really clear where I was taking it.

Speaking of such projects, I got my 4Unit english major work assessment 2 mark back, and am extremely happy with 19/20. I also got some very good advice from the head teacher.

My friend, Kirrin, put up a notice on the yr 11 sign on board yesterday, regarding my “lost” discman, asking for whoever has it to just return the CDs to the front office. Well, this morning was the first time anyone would have seen the notice, and as I was signing on myself (just around the corner), I heard a group of people read the notice and one of them say something to the effect of “Oh, I was gonna give it back”, then laughter, then “Yeh, sure…”. Scummy people. I just hope they do actually decide to give the CDs back.

During sport today (because our year doesn’t do sport), Laura and I headed off into town because I wanted to see my friend’s artwork which was in the gallery because it was some of the best HSC work in the region. I had seen small photos she had sent me last year, but Wow, the drawings were amazing. They involved this girl and a puppet thing, and they were very dark and scary. She had an entire wall to herself. So now I have to email her and tell her how wonderful she is. :)

Okay, lastly, and certainly of very little importance (and most of you probably won’t understand anyway), but upon Greg’s suggestion, I bought the Rose Hancock Porteous (the crazy Perth socialite) biography. I used some of the vouchers I received from the academic awards at the start of the year, so it feels good to know that the school is paying for my personal reading after all that they put me through. Oh, and seriously, I think there will be a great opportunity in the future for our and previous generations to sue the government when our backs are destroyed from carrying insanely heavy backpacks. I believe american schools have lockers. Well, we cart our folders and all our textbooks (heavy things they are too) too and from school each day in our backpacks, and I noticed today that walking through town I was experiencing bad back pain, which is something that I had just become accustommed to. Oh well, money for us when we are older and stuck to a bed. Bye
